Versa Vascular is an innovative medical device startup developing next-generation implantable solutions for the treatment of tricuspid heart valve disease. Our mission is to improve patient outcomes through precision engineering, rigorous quality standards, and collaborative innovation.

We are seeking a highly motivated Production Supervisor responsible for leading day-to-day manufacturing operations while ensuring production equipment remains qualified, maintained, and available to support business objectives. This role will have direct reports and serves as a key liaison between production, engineering, quality, and management to drive efficient manufacturing, resolve production challenges, and maintain compliance with applicable quality system requirements.

As a member of a growing startup medical device company, this individual will wear multiple hats and contribute across production, equipment management, documentation, facilities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role will start in Santa Cruz and move to Los Gatos early 2027. The work duties will temporarily include coordinating and preparing various aspects of the company move.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Supervision

  • Supervise, coach, and support production technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations.
  • Recruit, hire and set up training plans for additional production technicians as needed to meet build demand.
  • Develop and manage daily and weekly production schedules to meet business priorities and customer demand.
  • Monitor production progress and communicate schedule status, risks, and performance metrics to management.
  • Identify and remove production blockers to minimize downtime and maintain workflow.
  • Communicate technical issues and production concerns to Engineering and Management.
  • Support implementation of engineering changes, process improvements, and new product introductions into production.
  • Ensure production follows approved procedures and quality requirements.

Equipment Management

  • Develop, schedule, and oversee preventative maintenance activities for manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform Installation Qualification (IQ) activities for new and relocated equipment in accordance with validation procedures.
  • Evaluate opportunities for second sourcing critical manufacturing equipment to reduce operational risk.
  • Manage inventory of backup and duplicate equipment to support uninterrupted production.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues and coordinate repairs with vendors, engineering, or maintenance personnel.
  • Contribute to equipment documentation, logs, and qualification records.

General Responsibilities

  • Update manufacturing documentation, work instructions, forms, and related controlled documents to support production improvements.
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining organized production and equipment records.
  • Coordinate with vendors for facility or equipment-related services as needed.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the medical device, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or other regulated industry.
  • Previous experience supervising or leading production personnel.
  • Experience with equipment calibration, maintenance, or qualification.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a startup environment.
  • Familiarity with GMP, GDP, CAPA, change control, and validation processes.
  • Experience with ERP or manufacturing execution systems (MES) is a plus.
